Two kids readingCasey Cardinia Libraries has unveiled a new four year plan that will transform the way that libraries operate across the region.

Mr Chris Buckingham CCL CEO said: ‘We have a clear mission - encourage life-long learning, increase literacy and build strong resilient communities across the Casey Cardinia Region.’

The 2017 – 21 Library Plan was endorsed with enthusiasm by the CCL Board. Chairperson Cr Jodie Owen from Cardinia Shire Council said: ‘Community, Council and library staff were actively engaged in the development of the plan. It is all about putting people first.’

‘Community expectations of public libraries are changing rapidly. Having a great range of books that people can borrow for free is really important. We also want our libraries to be places where people can share stories, gather knowledge and be creative.’ Added Mr Buckingham

Once the 2017 – 21 Library Plan is adopted by Council, CCL will embark on a program of upgrading free Wi-Fi, refreshing ICT equipment, renewing furniture and creating more welcoming spaces for people to read and learn.

‘We want more people to visit our libraries and be happier for it.’ Said Mr Buckingham.
